  • Een adviserende opdracht met betrekking tot alle protocollen inzake experimenten op mensen en op reproductief materiaal. 
  • De ethische commissie van het AZ Jan Portaels evalueert studieprojecten/onderzoeken over wetenschappelijke, medische en gezondheidsgerelateerde onderwerpen, voor zover deze uitgevoerd worden in het ziekenhuis en/of in samenwerking met onze 1ste lijns-partners.

Urgent ethical questions

As a healthcare provider, you may be faced with acute ethical questions or issues when diagnosing or treating your patients. In these cases, you can always call on the Crisis Cell of the Medical Ethics Committee. Questions may be related to, for example, anesthaesia, palliative patients, unclear DNR codes, problems related to living wills or euthanasia.
Members of the Crisis Cell can be contacted directly by telephone every working day via the medical secretariat (02/257 50 96). The members of the Crisis Cell will contact each other and you as soon as possible to provide an opinion following a joint consultation, from a legal and ethical point of view. 
If necessary, other healthcare providers with expertise in the subject matter may be invited to join the Crisis Cell.
