As a hospital, ourkey missionis to provide and deliver accessible, quality, safe and valuable care and to for our hospital clients in our region.

Accessible Care

Because of our DNA and our history, we place a special focus on our hospital clients with limited financial capacity. In addition to effective and rapid access to care, financial accessibility is also essential.

To keep care affordable, solidarity mechanisms have to be put in place in addition to the legal mechanisms.

Quality (medical and nursing) care

Naturally, the same quality of medical and nursing care is always provided to all of our patients. We must try to provide the highest quality of care possible, day in and day out. 

Patient Safety

Patient Safety is also paramount: we must do everything we can to eliminate unsafe activities. We therefore aim for "zero defects”.

Valuable Care

We also want to provide valuable care (value-based healthcare) to our hospital clients. We always determine the added value of what we do from the perspective of our hospital clients. The emphasis is on care that contributes to their well-being and health. We carefully analyse what value means to clients, which allows us to determine what they will consider wasteful. Valuable care is also about how we can optimally integrate with other healthcare providers or organizations within a given care pathway to achieve maximum value for our hospital clients.

We want to position ourselves as a strong regional hospital that provides basic & specialist care to the residents of Vilvoorde and the surrounding area and works in a network to offer highly specialized care, which requires investment in expensive medical technology, to its hospital clients.

The goal of having a vision

Our vision is based on values. They determine our behaviour, mutual relationships, working methods and, ultimately, the entire organizational culture. Optimal alignment between employees' personal values/vision and those of our organization is essential. When that alignment exists, employees can contribute to achieving our organization's goals.

It is important for employees in our organization to identify with the values. This means that the vision can come in handy when conflicts arise or when certain decisions seem to get stuck. The vision provides guidance for policy choices and conflicts. It allows us to choose the right direction. And to bring about understanding for the -sometimes difficult- choices made on the basis of this vision. 

Making the vision explicit and using it on a daily basis allows a company culture to be built or evolve. This increases coherence and a sustainable way of working.
