AZ Jan Portaels joins the "smoke-free" campaign of 12 Flemish hospitals. A number of measures are being taken as part of the Smoke-Free healthcare project. The idea is to stop  people from smoking at the entrance or in other visible places.

In the autumn, the "smoking pavilion" for patients and visitors, which is currently located at the main entrance of AZ Jan Portaels, will be moved to the exit of the campus. That way, it will no longer be visible to other patients and visitors.

For the staff, there will also be only one specific smoking area and not several as is the case now.  Employees may also be provided with a smoking cessation course.
