Currently, some 65 volunteers work at the AZ Jan Portaels. They add value for the patient and their family because they act as a bridge between the healthy outside world and the world of the sick. Volunteers are there to talk to patients in plain language, about ordinary things. A volunteer has more time this than professional healthcare providers.
