Management Team
The day-to-day management of the hospital is in the hands of the management team:
Sarah Stroo, CEO - President of the management team
Sarah Stroo has been CEO of the hospital since February 2023. She started her career in 2007 within the Judiciary. Since 2019, she has been part of the Vilvoord hospital's management team as HR director. Sarah has built a strong and dynamic HR team that has enabled work to be done on the positioning of AZ Jan Portaels in terms of Human Resources. There is now a good basis for a contemporary HR policy, which can be deployed in various areas: learning and development, well-being at work, recruitment and internal career and general HR advice on personnel files and the various payroll aspects. The icing on the cake came during the recent accreditation round by Qualicor where the HR team received an explicit mention for their training - and performance policies.
Dr. Véronique Fabré, Chief Medical Officer
Véronique Fabré has been CMO at the hospital since 1 April 2021. She started her career in 1999 as a gynaecologist at another general hospital, where she also became chairman of the Medical Board. After various management training programs, she made the transition to a management position in 2019, combining the position of CMO and medical registry manager.
Koen Verbruggen, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer and Chief Operations Officer
After starting his career in the banking industry (corporate and investment banking), Koen Verbruggen made a career switch to the social profit industry in 2003 as Finance & Administration Manager in a university hospital. Since 2007 he has been working as a member of the board of the management team at AZ Jan Portaels hospital in Vilvoorde and puts his knowledge and experience still to the service of the further development of the organization.
Yolande Daelemans, Chief Nursing Officer
Yolande Daelemans started her career as a nurse in 1999 in another general hospital on a nursing ward. Within this hospital, she had the opportunity to work in different departments and receive training. After obtaining her master's degree in 2016, she started working within the AZ Jan Portaels hospital as a staff member for quality. In 2019, she assumed the position of strategic policy officer to combine it with the position of quality coordinator starting in late 2019. At the end of 2021, Yolande Daelemans was given the opportunity to take on the role of acting Chief Nursing Officer.
