After being "CMO ad interim" for more than a year, Dr. Lieve Casteleyn will return to the radiology department. Even though she was praised both within and outside her own organization for the way she has taken up the position, her passion for radiology is too great to give it up or continue combining it with the position of CMO. The Board, physicians, management and all the staff of the AZ Jan Portaels wish to express their thanks for her effective but above all humane approach to the challenges the hospital faces (especially in these COVID times).

After a thorough selection round, and subject to a positive opinion of the Medical Board the governing body of AZ Jan Portaels has appointed dr. Véronique Fabré as the organization's Chief Medical Pfficer. She takes up this position from 1 April 2021. 

Dr. Fabré received the title of Doctor of Medicine and Obstetrics in 1994 (VUB) and shen then obtained the title of Specialist Physician in Gynaecology in 1999 (VUB). In 2020, she also obtained the title of Master in Management and Policy of Health Care (KU Leuven).

Throughout her career, Dr. Fabré attended several additional trainings on the specialty of gynaecology, as well as on management. For example, during the 2014-2015 academic year, she obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in General Management for Physician Specialists at the EHSAL Management School, and in 2016-2017, she was a laureate of 'Management and Leadership for Physicians' of Zorgbeleid.be.

For most of her career (from October 1999 to January 2019), she worked as a gynaecologist at the Algemeen Stedelijk Ziekenhuis Aalst (ASZ). Because of her strategic ambition in health care, she took up the position of Chief Medical Officer - Head of Medical Registration at AZ Oudenaarde from February 2019 until present. From 1 April, she will use her knowledge and experience to help set the course for AZ Jan Portaels in Vilvoorde. She believes the CMO plays an important role as a link between physicians, general practitioners and referrers and the management of the organization.

The governing body, medical board, board members, physicians and staff of AZ Jan Portaels wish Dr. Fabré all the best with this new challenge and look forward to working together!
