From July to October, the hospital is launching an awareness-raising campaign to highlight healthcare professions and motivate people to take on jobs in the healthcare industry.

Starting 7 July, ten "De Lijn" buses will feature black-and-white photos of health care providers, with a positive slogan. The buses will all depart from Vilvoorde terminus. The photos will also be shown on the brand new "Ring Trambus" starting in September. The Ring Trambus connects important locations in the North of the municipalities around Brussels, such as the Heysel, Vilvoorde station and Brussels Airport. The photos will also be projected on the Vilvoorde Town Hall.

With the slogan "AZ Jan Portaels likes to take care of you", we not only put our employees first, but we also show off the hospital's key values of high-quality, warm, safe and personal care.

One of the faces of the campaign is Elien Deneut, midwife at AZ Jan Portaels. Elien also talked about her work in the COVID unit on several occasions with famous radio presenter Linde Merckpoel. Elien Deneut said: “I still love job as much as when I I started. It is incredible to contribute to new life every day. I am also very lucky to have a great team that I can always count on."

For the campaign, AZ Jan Portaels is also working together with the Vilvoorde city council, as the photos will also be projected on the Vilvoorde Town Hall.
Hans Bonte, Mayor of the City of Vilvoorde: “We are extremely proud of the bravery of our city's health care providers. The AZJP staff, quite rightly, enjoys great appreciation from the population."

The campaign continues inside the walls of AZ Jan Portaels. The photos will be found throughout the hospital.
Marc D'hondt, Chief Nursing Officer: “Happy nurses and health care staff ensure safe and quality care. A good work environment and a pleasant atmosphere are key. Our employees are our main assets and ensure that new colleagues choose a healthcare job at AZ Jan Portaels.”

Helena Polfliet, spokeswoman for the hospital: “During the corona crisis, it became clear to a lot of people how important our health care professions are. It's an ideal time to highlight healthcare jobs, to honour our staff, but also to increase the attractiveness of nursing, as we still need a lot of new nurses.”
